WebIT Roundup: The Festival in Tweets

The WebIT Festival has made a name for itself as one of the largest tech and innovation forums in Europe, and only continues to grow with its 8th annual event (this year coming back to Sofia, Bulgaria) boasting over 5000 attendees and 200 speakers from top global companies. Even Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev made an appearance.

Digital transformation and innovation were the themes tying together the many varied presentations at the festival, as guests spoke on everything from digital marketing to fintech. The first day was a busy one as the pitch stage exploded with exciting ideas from the semi-finalists of the Founders Games StartUp Challenge (Adguard ended up taking home the big prize). The Digital Marketing and Innovation Summit, Tech Summit, and Smart Cities Summit took the stage on day one, with the Dev, SMEs, and Digital Bulgaria Summits taking place on day two.

The most interesting takeaway from the festival was probably the spotlight on Bulgaria as an unexpected startup leader in Europe, particularly in the tech industry. Telekirk and Chaos Group are two of many examples of successful Bulgarian companies sealing its reputation as a desirable country for business innovators.
